We believe that saying that if you get a job doing something you love, you’ll never work a day in your life. At Ferris, we take it a step farther. We think that if you like the people you work with, you’ll always have family around you.
And that’s the way it is here at Ferris Home Improvements. Our team members are like family, and we care about each other almost as we do our own families. That’s one of the reasons our team has been with us so long. In an industry where people tend to move around, we have employees who have been here nearly a decade – and one who is approaching two decades!
We like to say we work hard and play hard, and if you’re around on St. Patrick’s Day, or if you’ve met the company founder, Walter “Reds” Ferris, you’ll know what we mean.
Recently, we enjoyed our annual Family outing at the Blue Rocks stadium for some baseball, food, and fun. Our group of about 60 children and adults had an awesome evening.
For Thanksgiving, we all overeat at our Pot Luck dinner. We pull out all the stops for Christmas when we and some of our vendors – usually about 150 people- gather for a holiday party at Hockessin Memorial Hall.
Project Coordinator Terry Brannock exemplifies employee loyalty and team building. Years ago, Terry came to us as a part-time receptionist. But the arrival of her first baby started Terry’s life as a full-time Mom. After that most important job was complete and the kids were all grown up, Terry came right back to us!
“I enjoy the people I work with,” she explained. “We all have the same outlook on things: we care about what we do and we do things right. And the company culture that is to support each other.”
We combine the good times with good working conditions. We have excellent benefits including dental and vision coverage, a 401K plan, holiday pay, and paid vacation. We provide frequent training on new products and procedures and lots of mentoring. Plus, we’re flexible with employee time – we tell our team that if you have a family obligation during work hours, just let us know and we’ll do our best to work the schedule around your needs.
We all want to feel like we’re doing a labor of love, not work, as the saying goes. We try very hard to make that a way of life for our Ferris team. Why not come join us?
